As our Foreign Researcher/Scientist, you’ll partner with our Lead Economist to create groundbreaking thought-leadership pieces. You will lead a team of researchers in conducting comprehensive studies, developing frameworks, and analyzing data to create an economic framework for identifying risks in token economies within the Web3 industry. This is a project-based contractual position with the goal of pushing forward our research efforts and driving innovation within our organization. What you’ll focus on

• You’ll lead a team of researchers in conducting thorough literature reviews, creating frameworks, writing articles, and conducting data analytics in the field of Web3 Economics.
• Apply economic principles to the Web3 ecosystem and contribute expertise and best practices in understanding the economic dynamics of decentralized finance (DeFi), infrastructure, stable coins, and other relevant areas.
• Mentor and guide junior researchers, providing support and knowledge transfer to enhance their research capabilities.
• Conduct and lead research on multiple topics within the Web3 industry, identifying and addressing economic risks associated with token economies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including economists, developers, and product managers, to provide economic insights and contribute to the design and development of Web3 products and services.
• Stay up to date with the latest research, industry trends, and regulatory developments in Web3 and blockchain economics, continuously expanding knowledge and expertise in the field.
• Present research findings, frameworks, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external audiences, such as conferences or academic publications.
• Contribute to the development of research methodologies and innovative approaches to advance the understanding of Web3 economics.

About you

• Strong economics background with a postgraduate degree in Economics, preferably a PhD, with particular interest focused on risks related to Web3, blockchain, or decentralized systems.
• Solid understanding of Web3 technologies, including DeFi, infrastructure, and stable coins, and the ability to apply economic principles to analyze their impact and risks.
• Proficiency in the use of statistical software for data analysis and modelling.
• Experience researching macro and microeconomic risk policy is a plus.
• In tune with and actively expands your soft skills, with a focus on communication and self awareness
• Experience in and enjoys working remotely with a geographically dispersed and culturally diverse team
• Understanding of Remote-first, asynchronous collaboration approaches
• Experience using remote work tools such as Notion, Discord, and Google Suite for collaboration, communication, and project management
• Excellent command of English, both written and verbal, enabling effective communication of complex economic concepts and research findings.
• Previous publication experience in reputable journals or conferences is preferred
• Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and foster a collaborative research environment.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple research projects simultaneously.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also being a team player and contributing to a collaborative work environment.

Other Details

• This is a project-based contractual position with research activities until the end of September or October 2024.
• The primary goal is to develop an economic framework for identifying risks related to token economies within the Web3 industry.
• These positions are newly created to strengthen our research efforts and drive innovation within our organization.
• Based on performance and mutual interest, there is a possibility of a full-time job opportunity at the end of the engagement.
