Introduction
Karmaverse is a metaverse with multiple gaming experiences inside, each with their own unique storylines, gameplay, and features. The Development team looks to empower community by allowing the creation of their own game worlds within the Karmaverse. It developed a Dynamic Balance Adjustment System (DBAS). It’s DBAS encourages users to spend tokens when consumption drops, increasing their investment in the game through discounts or rewards depending on token consumption. DBAS operates like gas fees where when transactions decreases, so does the gas fees to encourage users to transact more.

Competitors
The gameplay of Karmaverse zombie is a variation of the Tile-matching video game genre that Candy Crush has popularized. The casual RPG game has a lot of competitors in the Web2 Scene, while Sugar Kingdom can be a competitor in the Web3 space.
Player Archetypes:
Killers: Leaderboards are present and PvP is a part of the gameplay modes for Karmaverse Zombie. This game mode appeals to the competitive nature of the killer player type.
Achievers: The adventure mode appeals to the achiever player type as players can progress through the game mode and have the chance to capture zombies that can ultimately become NFT fighters. There are also daily quests that the achiever player type can enjoy.
Socialisers: Alliances can be formed that help players share experiences, resources, and strategies with the leaders of other shelters, promoting a social aspect to the game.
Miners: $SERUM is the main game reward for interacting with the Karmaverse ecosystem. Because $SERUM has monetary value, miners will be inclined to farm this token while interacting with the ecosystem.
Investors: High value assets like land, which you can link your shelter in, can be attractive to the investor player type.
Mechanism Design
Core Game Loop
The current playable game of Karmaverse, called Karmaverse Zombie, is a tile-matching RPG game where each tile successfully matched becomes an attack towards the opponent. Each tile matched has a corresponding color to it and power ups the player’s fighters and prepares them to launch their special attack. Opponents attack as well, causing HP loss to the player’s party.
Resource Management
Players also have to manage their base of operations, called shelters, and allocate the resources in order to upgrade their fighters. It is up to the player which building they choose to construct in their shelter as various buildings have their own specific functionality. One Fighter must remain on the player’s shelter to defend it from zombies.
Examples of buildings are farms. These produce food that help fighters level up and grow. Another example of a building in the shelter is the vitamin drink factory, which turns food into vitamins, giving additional buffs to the fighters.
Token Design
Drivers:
The main supply driver for the $SERUM token will be how many players interact with the game, while demand will be driven mainly by the demand for minting a new fighter as opposed to just purchasing one off the marketplace. $KNOT tokens, on the other hand, will be mainly driven by governance voting demand, and demand to purchase NFTs off of the marketplace. Supply of the $KNOT token depends on the vesting schedule of the project.
Monetary Policy
Majority of the $KNOT tokens will be allocated towards the PlayToEarn pool (29%) and Staking Rewards (25.2%). Thje next big chunk goes to the Private Sale (11.7%) and the Team allocation (10%). Public sales make up 1.1%, Seed Round has a 7.8% allocation, while the Advisors, Ecosystem Fund, and Liquidity have 3%, 3.4%, and 5% share each.
Risks
Systematic Risk
-
The Karmaverse Zombie game is designed to be a casual game and caters to that same audience. However, crypto features are far from being a casual experience, especially to those who have no crypto background.
Potential Solution
-
One potential solution is targeting a very niche segment of crypto savy players that enjoy a casual game.
-
The better solution is to make the integration and introduction of blockchain features seamless and part of the game that casual gamers won’t notice the difference.
Idiosyncratic Risk #1
-
One idiosyncratic risk is the implementation of their DBAS system. Players will eventually find out how automated systems work and can influence the DBAS system, probably through botting, if they have the funds for it, especially if they’re a whale.
Potential Solution
-
A potential solution is to still have a manual override over the DBAS system, or change its algorithm from time to time so players can’t game it.
Idiosyncratic Risk #2
-
Allowing the community to create their own game has its risks as well. First off, if the protocol charges them to make a game, then that entails some freedom on part of the community developer’s side. However, if the community developer is too free to create a game on their platform, it might not coincide with the plans of the core team, or might even cannibalize existing games of the project.
Potential Solution
-
Having a good balance of freedom and limits is a potential solution to this problem. Only approved community devs can start creating games on the platform, or if the core team posts ideas which the community devs can pick up and develop is a way to go for this feature of their ecosystem.
